Security & Safety

Suspicious Behaviour and Items

Learn to notice behaviour rather than appearance, recognise items that may be suspicious, and follow Observe, Distance, Protect, Report, Follow safely.

Overview

Every colleague in the hotel can help keep guests and teammates safe. This course, built from the Dyafa Hotels & Resorts training deck, shows you how to notice what really matters and what to do next without putting yourself or anyone else at risk.

You will learn to focus on behaviour and context rather than clothing or nationality, recognise the indicators that deserve attention, understand when an item may be suspicious, and follow the four safe response steps. You will also learn exactly what to include in a report, what to avoid, and how to act when danger is immediate.

Frequently asked questions

Should I question a person whose behaviour worries me?

No. Do not accuse, confront or try to hold the person. Observe the facts from a safe place and report them to security or your supervisor immediately.

What should I do if I find an unattended bag?

Do not touch, move, open or inspect it. Move calmly to a safe place, keep guests away without causing panic, and report the location, description and time to security.

Can I take a photo of the item to send to security?

No. The deck says not to photograph it with your personal phone or share information or images online. Describe it clearly in your report instead.
